Merry Christmas!

Hi All,

I hope everyone had (or is having) a wonderful Christmas (if you celebrate it, of course)!

Here's a pre-Christmas mani that I did. I thought it was Christmas-y but could also be worn on other occasions.

If I remember correctly, this is two coats of Misa Dirty Sexy Money and then one thick-ish coat of Funky Fingers Icicle Lights. There were three holiday glitter Funky Fingers at Five Below, and I chose Icicle Lights, because it was predominantly light purple glitter with some red and green mixed in. Very pretty without screaming Christmas.

NOTM: Christmas Patchwork Mani

If you've ever read Chloe's Nails, then you're most likely familiar with the patchwork mani. This is my first time doing this type of nail design and I tried to follow her tutorial using the scotch tape, but I gave up halfway through. LOL. I used the tape for the red but the tape kept ripping when I removed it, thus smudging some of the lines. Then it took off a piece of the red when I did my first nail with the green polish, so I just did away with the tape and free-handed the rest of the green. It came out pretty good but obviously not as crisp as it would have if I used tape. I'm pretty happy with it for a first try though. Next time, I'll have to give it more time. I only had about an hour to pull this off, so I definitely rushed through it.

(These are the four best fingers. I'm not crazy about the way my index finger looks so I just left it out.)

A funny note: I tried to make each finger a little different but didn't put too much thought into it while actually doing my mani. After I completed all 10 fingers I compared them all and noticed that I had a different design on each finger, except I somehow managed to do the same design on both middle fingers. LOL)

I started with one coat of China Glaze Millenium, then used one coat Zoya Karina for the red. I must say Karina layered over Millinium is really pretty. Then I used 1 thick coat of BB Couture Clyde for the green. The green turned out darker than I wanted because it's layered over the red but it looks nice in well-lit areas. :p Then I put on one layer of Wet n Wild Dasher (from the Vixen's Mittens collection), which is just tiny holo glitter in a clear base, to tie it all together since the three polishes had different finishes.

It's definitely a festive mani and perfect for Christmas!

NOTM: Wet n Wild Blitzen

When I first saw swatches of the new WnW Vixen's Mittens collection, I knew I wanted to get Blitzen because it looked like a great holiday polish without being in your face Christmas-y. This mix of gold and red seemed really unique, too. I finally tracked this polish down at a ShopRite (grocery store) that usually never gets LE collections. The whole display was just sitting on the bottom shelf in the cosmetics aisle. Weird! I scooped up Blitzen and Dancer and went back for Prancer later on. :)

Blitzen is a really interesting polish. It appears to be a champagne colored sheer base with small gold microglitter and larger red glitter in it. I put on 4 coats in these pictures and there is still VNL. The red glitter was kind of sparse and wouldn't stay where I wanted it to, so I kept layering until I was satisfied. LOL. The base color was too close to my skin tone so I will most likely layer this when I wear it again. It's a pretty, delicate look for the holidays though.

The only downside is that this polish chipped for me on the first day of wear! I was hoping to wear it for the whole week but it's already off and replaced with a new look. I thought removal would be a bear with all the glitter, but it was actually pretty easy for me, because the polish literally PEELED OFF in big chunks. :o I have never had any other polish just peel off like that. I got bored at work yesterday and all my polish was gone by the end of the day!

I guess this polish is nice for just a short-term look because wear time was absolutely horrible.

Last Week's Nails: Revlon Perplex & Pure Ice Busted

Last week, I put on Revlon Perplex and layered it with Pure Ice Busted. The hidden shimmer in Perplex was just too subtle for me.

This is 2 coats of Perplex, which went on beautifully, and 1 coat of Busted. I really liked the combination and it was super sparkly under the sun!
